Working on the Web Design assignment provided me with several new skills which will be important to my classroom. First, I needed to familiarize myself with Weebly's website-building design. This meant figuring out their templates, design features, and layout tools. I used many design principles including color theory and user experience. I chose a visually pleasing color pallet, with a repeating pastel palette. When considering user experience, I ensured that I used an easy-to-read, contrasting font. Additionally, I used contrasting colors for buttons so it would be easy to navigate. I really enjoyed the creative aspect of the assignment. I love theatre and love teaching it so it was so fun to plan a website I could actually use someday.
From using Diigo I have learned how to bookmark resources and annotate them. This is useful because it provides an entire platform and extension to do these things through. This can be useful for a classroom setting because students can have a class page where they post information important specific to different projects, assignments, materials, et cetera. For teammates, it can be used in similar ways.
Technology has revolutionized how teachers engage in professional development. There are so many online resources for teachers to further their professional development no matter their location. It allows them to enhance their teaching practices. Teachers can monitor their student's progress online as well as incorporate a variety of different online resources into their lessons. Overall creating an even more enriching and diverse curriculum for their students.
