I have not had a chance to use twitter as much as I would like so far in this class. However, I have used it a few times when necessary. Honestly I'm a little overwhelmed by the interface of twitter. Specifically I get overwhelmed thinking about starting an entirely new social media. I don't know who to follow, what to look for, or how to use twitter effectively. However, I can see how it is important for teachers to use. It is a really great resource to stay in contact with other teachers and also a good source for news relating to education. Additionally, teachers all in one school could use twitter together as a school community. All of these uses are incredibly valuable for teachers. In my career I can see myself using twitter to stay in contact with other teachers as well as seek advice or comfort from them.

The digital divide impacts students success in school because having access to technology is essential to students education now. Whether it is testing, submitting assignments, or reading classroom materials, most of these are now provided online, especially as students get older. My little brother is in sixth grade and has his own computer, while I got a computer for the first time when I was a senior in High School. This newfound reliance on technology is likely because of the pandemic combined with advancing technology prevalence in daily lives. In the pandemic, we all had to learn at a distance and many of those new strategies have proven to be more efficient than those used before. However, this has created many more problems for students with little to no access to technology at home. Some ways I hope to be able to combat this is relying on technology as little as possible for submitting assignments and providing materials. I hope to offer both digital and paper options for all classroom materials, notes, and assignments. Additionally when using technology is absolutely necessary for an assignment, I will do my best to provide in class technology options by utilizing my personal device as well as computers provided by the school.

In my future classroom I would love to implement tools such as google classroom, edmodo, and scratch. This software was all used by my teachers when I was in school. Edmodo is a form of social media specifically for student to student and student to teacher communication. It is particularly useful for communicating about assignment due dates and quickly answering questions. I also think it would be fun to upload creative assignments on Edmodo and share with the rest of the class. Another software tool I would like to use is Scratch. Scratch is a software that teaches students the basics of coding in a really fun and interactive way. This is a very beneficial skill to develop early on and have as you become an adult. Additionally it is just very fun for kids and almost like a break from real work.
