I chose standard: SC.35.CS-CC.1.3 Identify ways that technology can foster teamwork, and collaboration can support problem solving and innovation. In my own words this standard means using technology to promote leadership and collaboration among students, and identifying the ways in which this is done. Based on my current skill set I feel very prepared to implement this standard. Although I am no technology wizard, I have used plenty of tech to collaborate with others. I think this standard gives way to a multitude of fun activities to do with the students.
A resource I found on CPALMS which I would love to use in a future classroom is a lesson plan called Taking a Stand. It focuses on young activists in the time of the Civil Rights Movement in America, encouraging critical thinking about authorities and constitutional rights. This is a resource I would love to use because I want to ensure my classroom is filled with diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. While these are things which are incredibly important to me, I do not feel fully equipped to tell the stories of minorities for them. Using a lesson plan (or even a book) written by a person of color would be a perfect guide on how to sensitively approach this topic without taking away from the voices of others.
It is important to be a proficient internet searcher as a teacher because so much of your job involves using the internet. Whether it be knowing how to properly fact check information you are teaching, or searching for activities to do with your students; teachers must be able to find exactly what they need by searching the internet. Of the skills introduced this week I believe I will use the advanced search feature the most. I have definitely experienced google not giving me the exact results I am looking for and advanced search will be a great way to get those exact results I want.
