Copyright is when one company or person owns the rights to a specific things and they are allowed to decide who gets to use it, how, and if they must pay to use it. Fair use is like an exception to copyright. It allows people to use copyrighted materials for very specific reasons such as criticism or research without gaining the rights to that material. Another place that fair use applies is teaching materials. As a teacher I would deal with these concepts by educating my students on them on what they mean, specifically to them as students. Additionally I would use fair use for my teaching materials when necessary but do my best to use materials in public domain or pay for copyrighted materials as needed.
A solution to academic dishonesty due to using technology would be using a platform like turnitin to check for plagiarism. Although this will not be entirely accurate it is a good starting point for teachers to screen for work they need to check for academic dishonesty. A potential solution to decreased productivity due to technology is using a software to ensure students remain on task while doing work in class. Additionally teachers could monitor physically the work students do on their technology and even set due dates at the end of class to encourage on task behaviors.
One of my favorite new skills I learned when creating my newsletter is how to get custom colors when using word. I'm very specific about the colors I like to use and knowing how to utilize this tool will be incredibly helpful in my future projects. Additionally, I loved learning how to utilize the shading technique for headers. This is something I will use often to create clear, aesthetically pleasing separations. Finally I really enjoyed creating the permission slip. Getting to format it to be exactly how I wanted was really fun and something I had not done before.
